Dili, May 6th, 2021 – His Excellency the Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, together with his personal security corps and travel support team, underwent, this Wednesday, May 5th, at his official residence, in the Farol district, another swab test to detect COVID-19.
Today, at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak stated that he considers the swab test a good thing and that we should all cooperate because this is to safeguard everyone’s life.
“I think taking this test, it’s good for all of us. I think we should all cooperate. I have already undergone the swab test four times. Tomorrow I have to go to Balibó and the health services informed me that for the Prime Minister to go, the condition is to do the swab test. I replied that I am ready for the swab test. Why are there citizens who do not want to cooperate and take this test, to safeguard everyone’s life? If we want to live, we have to make sacrifices, so I ask everyone to do it. The Government is not mad and doing harm to its citizens. This test is a good thing, and we don’t want citizens to die, even because currently there have been four deaths related to COVID-19“, informed the Prime Minister to the journalists, after the meeting with the Head of State.
Swab tests on COVID-19, undertaken on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 by the Prime Minister and the security and travel support teams had negative results.
The Head of Government inaugurated, on Friday, May 6th, the UPF Border Post in We-Fatuk, Balibó, in the Bobonaro municipality, whose construction was executed by the Timor-Leste Government and had the support of the Australian Government. END/MPMO
