Press Release: Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak receives a phone call from his Australian counterpart, Scott Morrison

Dili, April 27th, 2020: His Excellency the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, last Friday afternoon, received a phone call from his Australian counterpart, Scott Morrison, who reiterated the support and solidarity from Australia to Timor-Leste in fighting against the pandemic of coronavirus or COVID-19.
During the telephone conversation, which lasted 12 minutes, both governments head deepened the cooperation relationship between the two countries, for the future. Australia is ready to help Timor-Leste with a few more medical equipment and laboratory specialists.
For his part, the Prime Minister was very grateful for the Australian Government and people’s support and solidarity, even if Australia is also facing problems with COVID-19.
In addition, the Timorese Head of Government apologized to his Australian counterpart for not visiting Australia in April, as had already promised, because of the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, which affected the entire world, including Timor-Leste, and promised to reschedule the visit for another occasion.
