Dili, January 14th, 2021 – His Excellency the Prime-Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, held the weekly meeting with His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, this Thursday, at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace. At the meeting, the activities of the Government, particularly the situation of COVID-19, related to security and the first phase of the economic recovery program, with the distribution of the basic basket, were addressed.
“This is the weekly meeting with His Excellency, the President of the Republic, and it was used just to review the COVID-19 situation. We updated the information related to the basic basket program, and to the activities that are in progress, namely those related to security, especially when related to the State of Emergency. Currently, we have 6 (six) persons who are still infected with COVID-19 and, thus, the Government is considering the possibility to review the measures, to relax them, so that our activities may return to normal”, explained the Head of Government, after the meeting with the President of the Republic.
The journalists seized this opportunity to question the Prime-Minister on the case of the private plane, coming from Jakarta and bound for Brisbane, which landed at the Nicolau Lobato Airport for fuel supply, about the concerns of the basic basket distributors’ companies, which claim payments, among others.
