On the 1st of May 2019, the International Labour Day is celebrated around the world and in Timor-Leste. This International Labour Day is also marked by the Catholic communities as the day of St. Joseph the Worker, aiming to recognize and value the role of Workers within the Society.
Workers are the new heroes of this actual phase of the National Development, through which a Strong, Wealth and Safe Nation is built!
Labour Day is not merely an holiday or a day off, but it is an excellent opportunity to congratulate the commitment, merit, discipline, professionalism, teamwork, self-denial, and the fulfilment of duty demonstrated by thousands of workers, locals and internationals, workers, employees, specialists and technicians, distributed within different sectors of our economy and public administration, whom greatly contribute to boost productivity and to empower the progress at good rhythm of our country.
Since the Worker is a blessing and the real wealth for a family, community, enterprise, institution or Nation, it is fair to celebrate the best examples of work and excellence, as sources of inspiration and encouragement, when facing developmental challenges.
To all Timorese and international Workers, who contribute with their selfless efforts to a more modern, developed and prosperous Timor-Leste, on my name and on behalf of the Government, I would like to offer our sincere gratitude!
