2020 General State Budget overall approved with 44 votes in favor –Prime Minister thanks Members of Parliament for their support

Dili, October 2nd, 2020 – The 2020 General State Budget (GSB) was approved, in the overall vote, this Friday afternoon, after 2 days of debate, with 44 votes in favour, 0 votes against, and 21 abstentions.

The Chief of the Executive thanked the Members of Parliament who expressed their support for the 2020 GSB and also thanked the opposition parties, on their positive collaboration during the 2020 GSB overall debate.

The Head of the Government stated that the Government registered the concerns raised by the Members of Parliament during the debate, and next Monday, October 5th, the Government will respond and clarify their concerns, when the  2020 GSB detailed debate begins.

“The Government welcomes the concerns raised by the Members of Parliament during the two days of the 2020 GSB overall debate. I thank to all the Members of Parliament who expressed their support for the 2020 General State Budget, that the Government came here to present for the third time”, said the Prime Minister, before the vote.

The detailed debate will continue next Monday, October 5th, 2020. M-PMO.
