Díli, July 17th 2019: HE, the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, welcomed, this Tuesday, a visit of a large trade delegation from Australia, consists of almost 20 entrepreneurs, who want to invest in Timor-Leste. The Ambassador of Australia to Timor-Leste, Peter Roberts accompanied this delegation.
In the meeting, the Australian Ambassador informed the Head of Government regarding the interests of this Australian trade delegation’s members in investing in Timor-Leste.
The Head of Government was very pleased to welcome the members of this delegation and pointed out that Timor-Leste remains open to receiving investments from other countries, notably from Australia, which can thus help Timor-Leste to create employment opportunities for Timorese citizens.
The visit of this Australian trade delegation was supported by the Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste and Austrade (Australia’s Trade and Investment Commission).
“We met, this morning, with the Prime Minister. The Australian Embassy is delighted to support the coming of this group, including the CEOs and the representatives of different Australian enterprises, from variety of areas, such as natural resources, aviation, environment, etc. This trip aims to support the investment in Timor-Leste and to ensure the trade cooperation between Timor-Leste and Australia. This is a great opportunity for Australia and Timor-Leste strengthening bilateral cooperation”, said the Ambassador Peter Roberts to the journalists, after the meeting of the trade delegation with the Prime Minister.
During the stay in Timor-Leste, besides seeing the Head of Government, this delegation will also have a meeting with the Interim Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry, Dr. Agio Pereira, visit TradInvest of Timor-Leste, the National Petroleum and Minerals Authority (NPMA) and the Timor GAP, EP. END
