Prime-Minister receives Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in audience – on the agenda is the CPLP Summit in July 2021, in Angola

Dili, June 7th, 2021 – His Excellency the Prime-Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, received in audience, on Monday afternoon, at his residence in Farol Neighbourhood, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno, to analyze the Timorese participation in the Summit of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP, in the Portuguese acronym), which will be held on July 17th, in Luanda, Angola. The meeting also served to analyze the inauguration of the new Executive Secretary of the CPLP, Zacarias Albano da Costa, on what will be the first time that Timor-Leste occupies the position of Executive Secretary of CPLP.
“Yes, we discussed the CPLP Summit, which will take place in July, in Angola, and the availability of His Excellency the Prime-Minister and His Excellency the President of the Republic to participate in this summit. So, we have been organizing that and then we also addressed the preparation of Mr. Zacarias Albano da Costa, who will be assuming the position of Executive Secretary of the CPLP, being this the first time that Timor-Leste assumes this position”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adalzija Magno.
Regarding the participation availability, Minister Adaljiza Magno explained that probably the Head of Government will not participate in this event, and the Minister is still awaiting the response from the Head of State about the participation in the Summit, since in this summit the new Executive Secretary of CPLP, who is from Timor-Leste, will take office.
The Minister also added that, at the CPLP Summit, in Angola, some important issues will be discussed, namely the mobility of CPLP citizens in the member countries, as well as an exchange of views on the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. END
